Onward to Saltillo
Before setting out to our next destination, we needed to refuel our own fuel tanks with breakfast. Came across a restaurant, Desayunos, which offered specialty coffees and a variety of breakfast dishes. Perfect!
The specialty coffees and food was incredible. A definite recommendation from all three of us to visit it if you are in the area. In talking with the two co-owners, found out the restaurant has only been open a month. And they have plans for expansion already.
Another interesting piece of info that shows how small our world really is…one of the owners played rugby at a school in Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island, within an hour of where we are from.
Saltillo, Mexico
The highway to Saltillo was in great condition and traffic was the usual business with semis and cars. Then we hit the city limits and then the downtown core. It was total insane mayhem!! Traffic gridlocked. Francis led us through, lane splitting and dodging around vehicles, just like the local motorcycle riders. I still don’t know how James fit in between with his paniers.
This was the first place so far that we could not find a room walking distance to the Centro, or city core. We ended up at a City Express, and took a Mexican Uber back to the downtown to check out the festivities.
Saltillo also had huge celebrations leading up to Dia de Muertos. Vendors set up all around the city square selling food and items, stunning decorations all through the downtown core.
Tomorrow…The cobblestone road and Tunnel to Real de Catorce…
