Second Visit to Ajijic
Ajijic was another city we wanted to revisit after our first one-night stay. We tried getting a room at Hotel Italo again, but the place was booked. The owner recommended La Nueva Posada which was closer to Lake Chapala. The hotel was beautiful, location was great, and the rooms are spacious. They also have a restaurant on site and secured parking on the property.
I have been to Mexico five times previously, all to resorts, and have been lucky to have not fallen ill with a tummy bug of some sort. Well, not this time.
The afternoon we arrived I was fine, but that night I became very ill. I spent the next two days either in bed sleeping, or in the bathroom. James kept a supply of electrolytes, water, tea, and light snack foods on hand for me between his walks around Ajijic.
Finally on day three, I was able to get out for a walk and fresh air. But nowhere near ready to travel.
Ajijic has so much to offer visitors. Walking the Malecon on Lake Chapala, the wide variety of street vendors and stores, and the feeling and character of a Mexican town. It’s not surprising that many people from outside of Mexico are selecting Ajijic as the community they want to move to. As a result, Ajijic is steadily growing.
