Mazamitla…And Then There Was One

When we awake in the morning, we never know what the day is going to bring us. Nor can we always be prepared for what unfolds.

The route my GPS suggested from Jiquilipan to Mazamitla was a short one. Around an hour. So James plotted out another round about route that added another two hours. His navigation system was fine, until it directed us to turn off the concrete main street and down a dirt backroad. We followed the navigation’s direction, until it wanted to take us deep into farmers fields. We turned around and got back to the main street.

A local gentleman, who spoke great English, stopped his truck and asked if we needed help. I mentioned our GPS was messed up and we were headed to Mazamitla. He pointed to the dirt side road we were just on and sternly said, “Do not go that way”. He said to follow him and he led us back to the highway.

Mazamitla

We made it to Mazatmitla and fumbled around a bit finding our hotel. The town was very intriguing as we rode around. It had a Mexican Bavarian look to it. I was very excited to get out exploring. That was about to be changed in an instant…

You would think that when you have known someone for many years, and as partners, you would really know that persons character and capabilities. Surprise! That is not always the case.

I refuse to allow a partner, friend, nor travel companions intolerable, inexcusable abusive actions towards me, then abandoning me leaving me alone, totally ruin my Adventure. It just shows their true character, and who they are as a person. I am strong-willed, determined, and more than capable of continuing on on my own Adventure.

After James rode away, never to return, the hotel owner and her employee looked at each other in disbelief at what just happened. They showed me my room, I parked Rebel, and unloaded to settle in.

The hotel I stayed at, Habitaciones Betito, is located just down the street from Mazamitla’s City Square. Walking distance to the Square, vendors, restaurants, and attractions. My room was spacious and bed so comfortable. And a great courtyard to park in, once you wiggle through the two doorways. Highly recommend staying here.

The Square

Once I was settled in, I headed out to explore this unique Mexican Bavarian city. Around the perimeter of the Main City Square, and the surrounding side-streets, Mazamitla offers a variety of restaurants, stores, and vendors to explore. One side-street is lined with food vendors offering everything from tacos to traditional snacks.

On my second day in Mazamitla, I did a bit more exploring in the morning. Then I focused on where I wanted my Mexico Motorcycle Adventure to take me next, and the route I would take…
