Mazatlan
Mazatlan has always intrigued me. But I have not had the opportunity to travel there. Well, I was about to change that and add it as a destination on my Mexico Motorcycle Adventure.
Now that I was traveling alone, I prepped my GPS for a route, and selected a route on my phone using MapsMe. I decided to stick to the Toll Roads for my first venture out on my own.
I was amazed at how many groups of motorbikes were out on the Toll Road. Being the weekend, the local groups were taking advantage of the sunshine. Groups of sportbikes and groups of cruisers were out in full force. So nice to see, and so much waving to be done.
I selected the Posada 53 hotel which is located right in the Centro. Walking distance to everything I wanted and needed like the Malecon. Parking is in a garage area right beside the front desk, so very secure for bikes.
The Malecon
My hotel, Posada 53, was a few blocks away from one end of the Malecon. For my walks, I would start at my end and go all the way around to the other side of the point. And it kept going beyond that.
As you walk along, on one side of you is the small section of beach and the ocean. On the other, is the main road running along the Malecon and point. There are magnificent statues standing tall along parts of the Malecon.
Across the road, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and stores line the sidewalk. There is no shortage of variety, depending on your mood.
The Beatles Along the Malecon
Across the street from the Malecon, there are many interesting statues, shops, and restaurants. You can even walk down Liverpool Alley with The Beatles. At the end of the street, is a rather large rendition of Marilyn Monroe.
Compared to some of the other cities and towns I have been in so far, the Centro of Mazatlan was quite rich in tourists. There were even volunteer tourist guides sitting on street corners ready to assist visitors. There were also police officers on most street corners.
I enjoyed Mazatlan and will definitely be back on future Adventures.
Next…Hmmm, which direction shall I go next??…
