Day 1-Headed for Leavenworth

Day 1 is under our belts and what a fabulous day with a slightly minor nerve wracking few moments approaching the border crossing.

We made it on the first ferry out of Departure Bay at 6:25a.m. About an hour after reaching Horseshoe Bay, we were in the line up at the Peace Arch Border crossing.

Lesson learned today…When planning to enter the U.S., double, triple, and quadruple check that you have your passport before you leave your house. And confirm with your travel mates that everyone has their passport hahaha.

We were four hours into the adventure, in the line up at the Peace Arch Border Crossing, when Cheryl realized she forgot her passport. A quick phone call to her parents to go take a pic of her passport, with some unknown exceptions to the crossing rules, and she was allowed into the States. We would have to wait until the following week to see if she would be let back into Canada…hahaha.

The ride to Leavenworth was spectacular!! Warm and toasty as well! Stopped in Skykomish at an interesting pub for dinner. The twisties on hwy 2 were never ending.

We stayed at the Alpine RV Park and Campground on the outskirts of Leavenworth. Walked across the street to the Safeway for snacks and supplies. Quite the haul. We did get some fruit to go with our oatmeal at breakie in the morning hahaha. Apparently Red Vines are the best ever, and not available in Canada.

Looking forward to exploring downtown Leavenworth. What a beautiful area!!
