Days 9 & 10
After spending the past 5 days in remote areas, it was time to head back to “chaos of civilization”. We actually enjoyed the quiet, remote areas with not much traffic or noise……or cell service.
The section of the Alaska Highway towards Muncho Lake gets more twisty and curvy again……Have I mentioned how much we miss being on our motorbikes? Finally saw our first caribou in this area. Muncho Lake is a big, beautiful lake about an hour from the Liard Hot Springs. Just before Fort Nelson, the mountains turn to hills and the road straighten out again. We decided to stop for the night at the Rotary RV Park in Charlies Lake, 10 minutes north west of Fort St.John. Wide open but a well kept campground.
When we set off this morning we thought we would try something different…… just travel along, see how far we get and then pick a place to stay. Saw a black bear sow with her cubs….3 of them…..very adorable but did not stop. Respected the bears space as there were a few cars already stopped. Made our way to Dawson Creek, then on to Grande Prairie, Alberta. The weather was changing and was not favorable for tenting as it was cool and raining. Decided to go as far as Hinton, get out of the elements for a night and treated ourselves by renting a motel room at the White Wolf Inn.
