Day 11- Exploring South Rim Grand Canyon
We spent the morning and early afternoon exploring the sites and viewpoints of the South Rim. The earlier the better as the temperatures climb in the afternoon and there is more traffic out on the roads.
We stopped in at the numerous viewpoints to admire the rugged beauty of the Grand Canyon. Many colors of layered sediment spotted with mixed greens of vegetation…..breathtaking.
When we stood overlooking this area, it reminded me of a painting. The crispness of the cliff edges closest to us, then slowly softening in the distance. The Canyon seems to go on forever……a bottomless entity. Absolutely amazing!!!!
One of our stops exploring was at the Tusayan Museum. We went on a 30 minute tour guided by a park ranger who filled us in on the history of the area…..a definite must do! While we were on the tour, We acquired a stowaway…….Guido, an Abert’s squirrel. Got back to our bikes and there he was……hahaha
