Day 12 – Bryce Canyon
A bit of a sad morning as we were packing up to leave the Grand Canyon and head to Bryce Canyon. Said our goodbyes to our new fellow biker friend from Texas, Andrew. It was a beautiful, sunny morning. Even though it was early, we could feel the heat starting to build.
There are a couple of options when traveling from the South Rim Grand Canyon to Bryce Canyon. Highways 89 or 89A……I had both marked on my map as options for us. Highway 89A is a bit longer travel time but I discovered it is also a marked motorcycle route. With this info, and the recommendation from a couple camping near us in Monticello, we took highway 89A for part of the route north……and it was well worth it!!
Highway 89A was spectacular. It jots off of highway 89 and heads north west to Marble Canyon. 89A goes through a bit of the Grand Canyon National Park, then continuing north west to join up with the 89 once again. This section of 89A is a definite must do…..or must ride!!
We arrived at our campsite at Rubys Inn RV Park & Campground. We dropped off some supplies, set up our tent site and decided to ride up to Bryce Canyon. From the entrance gate, it is an 18 mile twisty, windy road that comes to a dead end to turn around at. Definitely a motorcycle route must ride!! There are numerous viewpoints along the way to stop at and take in those views of the multi colored limestone structures…..absolutely breathtaking!!
