Los Ayala
We were on the move again, but not very far this time. Within 15 minutes, we would arrive at our next destination which we would spend the next few days exploring and enjoying some down time…Los Ayala.
Francis had a family emergency that took priority over this adventure. So as we were packing up to move on, Francis was packing up to catch a plane home.
Friends of ours from our Victoria Supermoto Racing days, Ian and Amanda, invited us to stay at their place in Los Ayala. They built a beautiful Hacienda Style home in Los Ayala, and have been settling in. I quite enjoyed my new remote office space. Relaxing, destressing, and inspiring.
I was surprised by the size of Los Ayala. I expected it to be smaller than it is. Ian and Amanda’s home, being only blocks away from the downtown, the markets, and the beach, allowed all exploring to be done on foot. Nice to get a different form of exercise and stretch those legs.
The Beach
After just spending a few days in Guayabitos and at the beach there, I was curious how the beaches compared in the two communities. Of course both are stunningly beautiful!! Los Ayala’s is smaller, so it felt more crowded. There is nothing better than enjoying a lunch of fish tacos on the beach with the ocean for your view.
A Different Type of Adventure
Ian had a preplanned fishing trip with a few buddies on one of the days we were staying at their place. He extended an invitation to James to join them on the open ocean fishing day. Just a small change in the typical day in this adventure of riding motorbikes.
The fishing group left before the sun was up, and returned late afternoon after a successful day. Most of the catch consisted of Dorado, or Mahi Mahi.
One of the guys snagged a Marlin which put up a huge fight. But the Marlin was gone before it could be pulled into the boat. Great video footage shows that Marlin fighting viciously, jumping for the sky, its entire body out of the water.
The Durado was shared amongst everyone, including the young men that filleted the fish. A large batch of it was taken to a restaurant in La Penita, Mendoza’s, for them to prepare it for a dinner for all of us.
They prepped it four different ways. Breaded, Hawaiian, with bacon in a sauce, and Mexican. All were delicious!! The most popular with the crowd was breaded.
The time at Ian’s and Amanda’s was amazing and tranquil. I offered Amanda to be a live in cook, housecleaner, and helper hahaha. After getting our travel route and destination plans organized, it was time to get going to our next destination…
